"Alechinsky is at one and the same time the painter, the fishing rod and its hook, the river water and its fish. I notice I have just said that his work is a synthesis - no, I don't like that word; it is rather a meeting of the interior and exterior. These two collide in his work and both are affected as a result. The dents that emerge are the outcome of this collision.
